Within the depths of the Viridian Tabernacle, Venerable Shadow draws Kialu Tiaga and Bella away from the others so that they might defeat Viridian Mantle before he has a chance to interfere. Meanwhile, Peleps Hix leaves his cabin on the ship and discovers himself alone. Without Mnemon Alcyone to oppose him he sets out to save his love, Mnemon Toma. His path intersects with those facing Viridian Mantle and he helps them defeat the manifestation before they are forced to flee the tabernacle. Returning to the elder Eclipse caste they are offered a way home as long as they deliver a single letter.

In the climactic final battle against the Bearer of the Viridian Chalice, the members of the Student Council act in unison to achieve victory. In the aftermath they learn that Mac is in fact Ligier, the Green Sun. Now revealed, Ligier destroys Augustus. The dragon-blooded, having rescued Mnemon Toma, use a powerful hearthstone to return to Chiaroscuro and into the hands of a sidereal that leads them back to the academy upon the same day they had left for Malfeas. Unfortunatley, they did not return with Kialu Tiaga, Peleps Hix or Bella.

Once inside, they wait for Mnemon Toma’s warden to separate herself from her powerful master, Augustus.

During the 5 day journey to Malfeas the Student Council speaks with Florivet (a frustrating experience as he regularly withholds valuable information), facilitating a proper cover and discussing plans of action for when they arrived. After much debate it is decided to prioritize the rescue of Mnemon Toma over the defeat of the dangerous entity known as Augustus, a being that claims the ability to command any of the demons of Malfeas.
